About Canada & Alaska
I've travelled through much of Canada and Alaska, and have cruised Alaska more than three times — each journey on a different ship, each experience offering its own unique charm. But it's the moments off the beaten path that have stayed with me the most. Sitting quietly in the wild, watching bears up close… and yes, I was lucky enough to see whales — so close, it felt surreal. This is a destination I could pack my bags for any time of year — because there's always another corner to explore. If you love train travel, the Rocky Mountaineer is an absolute must. The scenery is nothing short of breathtaking, offering a front-row seat to landscapes you can't truly grasp until you've seen them in person. Travel through vast, rugged terrain by rail, witness grizzly bears in remote inlets, spot polar bears in the wild, chase the magic of the Northern Lights, or cruise past towering glaciers in Alaska. In winter, enjoy dog sledding, snowshoeing, or hit the slopes for some of the world's best skiing. This is truly one of my favourite year-round destinations — with something spectacular waiting in every season.
